Underground hip-hop has it, or has provided fertile ground for it (the genre is plenty and maybe even mainly full of total awfulness like every other genre). I look for that kind of realness everywhere. It thinks of itself primarily not as art but as speech. Art like this may, and often enough will, arrive at beauty or greatness, but the forms it takes are shaped by the inner pressures of what its creator must communicate or risk incoherence. Mainly I love its rawness and realness, and by "realness" I mean not authenticity but something more specific: A "real" or living art being one more closely attuned to the urgency of what it feels compelled to say than it is invested in its own status as an art object. Some people hate this “alt-rap.” Sometimes I hate it, and most things.

I figured this would be the case but it's nice to hear that confirmation. On the bright side, I don't expect as much racist and sexist nonsense on this because I don't see those types of douchebags to be attempting to go through all the necessary hoops to play retro stuff. While discord is fine for playing with a party of friends, it's going to be hard unless you have friends to play OG Xbox with. The original Xbox Live didn't have party chat and this was the only easy way to communicate. You needed one of these to plug in a mic into the controller back then and I wonder if enough people will have them these days because they seem to be much harder to come by these days and aren't advertised as much anymore either on Kijiji or eBay. lack of mic communicator packs being readily available. While this won't draw as much of a hacking problem I fully expect games like Halo 2 to have hackers still. hacking was a big problem in the early days of online gaming, particularly with certain OG Xbox games. There has to be a cost associated with this and who is going to pay to keep it running outside of a few enthusiasts and what happens when whoever handles the server has an emergency or leaves How will servers be handled and how will they be maintained.
